Jamie Foxx's Family Are Asking for Prayers Amid Mystery Medical Condition

For weeks now, actor Jamie Foxx has been hospitalized with a mystery condition, and now, it has been reported that those close to him are asking for prayers. It was first announced that Jamie was in the hospital by his 29-year-old daughter, Corinne Foxx. On April 12, she shared a statement on behalf of the Foxx family stating that the Oscar winner had experienced a "medical complication" the previous day.
"Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery," the Instagram statement continues. "We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."
Three weeks later, the 55-year-old star reportedly remains hospitalized. Here's what we know about his health issue.

Those close to Jamie are reportedly asking for prayers.
On May 3, TMZ reported that "those closest to him" are saying that Jamie needs prayers. "We've spoken with sources close to Jamie who echo the same plea—'Pray for Jamie,'" the outlet claimed. The report also notes that the issue the Oscar-winner is facing is still a mystery, at least to the public.
On April 14, CNN reported that a source told them, "They are running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened." On April 18, a source told Entertainment Tonight, "He is healing. He feels the love from everyone."
UPDATE: On May 3, Foxx posted a message to fans on his Instagram that reads, ""Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed," with a prayer hands emoji, heart emoji, and fox emoji.
He was working on a movie.
People reported on April 21 that Jamie has been hospitalized in Georgia, as he was in the state working on his upcoming movie Back in Action, which co-stars Cameron Diaz. According to the report, the medical incident did not happen on the set of the film, and he was not taken to the hospital in an emergency vehicle. Jamie was last spotted shooting the movie on April 10, and production has continued with the use of a body double.
"He's OK, thank God," a source told People at the time. "He's still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he's awake and alert. They're keeping him under observation."

He and Corinne are both taking time off.
In addition to Jamie being absent from Back in Action, he is also taking time off from hosting the game show Beat Shazam. According to TMZ, filming on a new season of Beat Shazam just began, and someone else will host in Jamie's spot. Corinne, who co-hosts the show with her father, is also not participating at the moment due to her dad's hospitalization. (Page Six reported on May 3 that the new hosts may be Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne; per The Hollywood Reporter, this was later confirmed by the show's Instagram account.)
Celebrity friends have shown their love.
Some famous friends and colleagues have shared their support and love for Jamie during this difficult time. On April 13, his Ray and Django Unchained co-star Kerry Washington shared a photo of them together on Instagram and wrote, "A @iamjamiefoxx appreciation post. Sending you all the love and prayers my movie huzbin."
On April 14, NBA player LeBron James tweeted, "Sending my thoughts and prayers to the heavens above to my brother @iamjamiefoxx!!!! Get well and back to yourself SOONER THAN LATER! God willing."
Jamie's Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson wrote on Instagram, "Lifting my friend @iamjamiefoxx and the Foxx family up in prayer! We pray for healing in Jesus' name! Sending u all the love in the world, Jamie!!!"
On April 20, Entertainment Tonight asked Martin Lawrence about Foxx at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony. "I mean, I wish him the best. He's in my prayers every night," the comedian said. "He's not only one of our best entertainers we have out here, but he's a great person and he's a genuine person. So please pray for him."
Tracy Morgan, who was also in attendance at the event, said, "I love Jamie. Jamie's a good friend of mine… my prayers go up for Jamie. He's strong, he's a fighter, he's gonna come out of it and he's good. He's gonna be stronger and better than ever."
